QuranGuessr

April 2026 — present

QuranGuessr gamifies memorisation review (muraja’a). Instead of self-testing against a book, players are dropped into a verse and asked to identify it, locate it in the Mus-haf, or recall what comes immediately before and after — under time pressure, across competitive, daily, and casual modes.

The part I find most interesting is the rating system. Progress is tracked with a chess-style ELO rating where you play against individual Quran pages. Know a page well and your rating climbs while the page’s difficulty rating drops. Aggregated across every player, that produces a live difficulty map of all 604 pages — which pages the global user base actually finds hard, rather than which pages people assume are hard.

Built with Next.js, Prisma ORM, PostgreSQL, and OpenID Connect for authentication.
